Faraca of Brockton August 28, 2002 Joseph E. “Joe” Faraca. Loving husband for 50 years of Jane M. (Beuermann) Faraca. Beloved father of John J. “Jay” Faraca and his wife Carol of Weymouth and Michael Lee Faraca and his wife Susanne of W. Tisbury. Loving “Grandfather Joe” of John J. II, Meaghan Elizabeth and James Patrick Faraca all of Weymouth and Lee Joon Faraca of W. Tisbury. Brother of F. Geraldine Costello of Manchester, Albert Faraca of W. Newton and Paul Faraca of Falmouth. Brother-in-law of Barrie L. Hamilton of Needham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Nicholas Church W. Abington at 10 AM. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Faraca High School Scholarship Fund, payable in Joe’s name c/o McLaughlin & McLaughlin 1135 N. Main St. Brockton, MA 02301.

Mr. Faraca died Wednesday evening surrounded by his family after a brief illness.He was born in Newton son of the late Joseph and Mary (Sirianni) Faraca. He was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School.

In 1958 he moved into the Brookfield section of Brockton, along with hundreds of new families and he realized that they needed representation. The Brookfield Community Association was formed and it supported his candidacy for city council. He was elected and re-elected to the council from 1962-1972 serving as president in 1964. He was appointed Park Commissioner and Deputy Director of Civil Defense for Brockton; Brockton delegate to the Old Colony Planning Council; past Chairman of the Democratic City Committee; past President of the Brookfield Little League; past President and present Treasurer of the Brockton Day Nursery.

His WW II experience in the US Navy took him to four areas of the world: Atlantic War Zone, Pacific War Zone, Mediterranean War Zone and Middle East War Zone.

His work followed many avenues, most notably his career with J.L. Hammet Corporation where he was a sales representative (1970), sales manager, general manager (1981) before retiring in 1992.

Joe learned to love golf in his senior years, which not only brought him enjoyment but some notoriety when he won the 2001 Brockton Senior Amateur Golf Association Championship. He was a member of DW Field Golf Course.Mr. Faraca was a longtime communicant of St. Nicholas Church, W. Abington.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Jane M. (Beuermann) FaracaTwo sons, four grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, a sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews and hundreds of loyal supporters who will miss him as well.
