LIMERICK- Robert “Bob” J. Smyth, age 86, husband of Jeanne Smyth, passed away April 29, 2025 at his home.
Bob was born March 29, 1939 in Dublin, Ireland to parents Mary (McCleery) and Robert Smyth.
He began seminary school at age 13 in England, and later on was involved in the church.
Bob married the love of his life Jeanne (Harnois) Smyth, they lived in both Maine and Ireland, and they shared 62 years together.
In his working years, aside from being involved in the churches, his passion was teaching. He taught how medical equipment worked and how to run specific tests. He also worked as a manager and trainer. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, and in his spare time, loved playing tennis.
Bob will be missed by his loving wife Jeanne Smyth, his sisters Carol Smyth, Olive Dawson and her husband Ken, brothers- William Smyth, Joseph Smyth and his wife Mary and Desmond Smyth and his wife Ann, and Noel Smyth and his wife Ena; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pam and Lynn from Hospice of Southern Maine. Their kind gestures in this time were appreciated by the family.
A Catholic Mass will be held Monday, June 9 at 11 AM, at the St. Matthews Church, 19 Dora Lane. Limerick, Maine.
