Obituary

James M. Hurley, 64, of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday April 27, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 24, 1961 in Lowell, MA, a son of the late Daniel and Jean (McCarthy) Hurley. His late parents were remarried, Daniel Hurley to Alice Hurley and Jean (McCarthy) Hurley with her longtime partner, Jim Angelis.

James was a resident of Londonderry for the past 4 years formerly living in Nashua, NH, having grown up in Woburn, MA. In his early years he was a machinist, he then worked as a maintenance manager and did masonry work as a part time job. He was a jack of all trades whether it was working on his car, remodeling homes or fixing whatever needed to be fixed. He loved being outside in the yard, going on fishing trips with his son, and spending time with his family. Some of his hobbies included drawing, painting, and wood carving. He enjoyed going to the flea market and shopping. He loved making people laugh and always had a good sense of humor. Since 2022 he had been battling Pancreatic Cancer. He’s admired for his strength and fought all the way up to the days leading to his passing. He was always there to support his daughter through school and fought hard to make sure he was able to see his daughter graduate from nursing school.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara Hurley; their son, Kevin Hurley and his fiancé Kara Jewell of Londonderry; their daughter, Kimberly Hurley and her partner Nanci Felton of Medford, MA; and his two stepsons, Robert Maglio, and Vincent Maglio; one stepdaughter, Melissa Maglio; three grandchildren; Malia Molina, Elijah Molina and LaRiyah Hurley; and two sisters, Kathy Hurley McElroy and her husband Steve McElroy, and Dannielle Ayotte; and one brother, Daniel (Brian) Hurley and his wife Debra Hurley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; Rayven, Rylee, Cameron, Kayla and Timmy.

Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
