Robert Cotta, 54, of Gorham, Maine (formerly of Billerica, Massachusetts)
Robert Cotta, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2025, at the age of 54 following a medical event.
Born in August 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, Robert was the son of William and the late Louise Cotta. He grew up in Billerica alongside his brothers Mike and Paul, where his love of the outdoors first took root. Robert later settled in Gorham, Maine, with his family, where he built a life filled with purpose, laughter, and love.
He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and dedicated 28 years of his career to Nichols Portland, where he was a respected and valued engineer.
Robert was an avid sportsman who found joy in every season. He cherished time on the water boating with his family, hunting with his boys, and was forever in pursuit of the elusive prize-winning bass. In the winter, he could often be found snowmobiling with friends and family—always ready with a laugh and a story. In more recent years, Robert developed a fondness for raising chickens and took great pride in showing them with his daughter at local agricultural fairs — a quiet joy that reflected his love of family and simple pleasures.
Above all else, Robert was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Cotta, and their children: Joseph Cotta, Austin Stoddard, Joshua Cotta, and Aubrey Cotta. He is also survived by his father, William Cotta; his brothers, Mike and Paul; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who loved him dearly.
Robert will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and the deep love he had for those around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
