Richard E. Reno, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in Lowell on June 6, 1940, he was the son of the late Raymond Reno and the late Adelaide (Veiga) Kot. Richard grew up in Lowell and attended the local schools, including Lowell High School. Following his graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
A longtime resident of Chelmsford, Richard worked for the Lowell Housing Authority for over fifteen years, specializing in boiler maintenance. He also worked at Lowell General Hospital, retiring more than 30 years ago.
In retirement, he volunteered with Community Teamwork at Northwood Nursing Home. Richard was a devoted fan of Boston Red Sox baseball, New England Patriots football, and the Green Bay Packers. He loved camping, fishing, traveling—especially to Salt Lake City to visit his sister—and above all, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Kenneth Richard Reno of Lowell; Wendy Ann Reno of Port Orange, FL; Dawn Marie Reno and her companion Tommy Hayes of Lowell; and Dawn Marie Joyce-Reno of Oak Island, NC.
He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Kenneth Reno, Donovan Reno, Jeremy Patterson, Alexis Robillard, and Ryan Joyce; and his great-grandchildren: Christian I. Reno, Harmony Patterson, Evelyn Reno, and Serenity Patterson.
Richard was predeceased by his siblings: Robert Reno, Mary Shaw, and Raymond Reno.
You are welcome attend his calling hours on Wednesday April 30, 2025 from 4pm until 7pm at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA. His funeral will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, begining at 10am at the funeral home. His Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 25 North Road, Chelmsford, MA, followed by burial in Saint Patrick Cemetery.
