Norma "Neenie" Richardson, age 89, passed away at home surrounded by her family on April 24, 2025. She is now reunited with her husband of 62 years Ralph and her family and friends.
Norma was born on November 1, 1935, in Westbrook, Maine a daughter of the late Everett and Eva (Shaw) Hodgkin, the youngest of four children, predeceased by her brother Everett and twin sisters Vicki and Virginia. She lived on High Street in Windham Maine and graduated from Windham High School. She met the love of her life Ralph after he stole her soda at the rollerskating rink and was married on July 22, 1955.
Norma and Ralph spent the rest of their lives on the Whites Bridge Rd where they raised four children. Norma had a large circle of friends that enjoyed camping, traveling, golfing, and finding the hidden casinos. She was an avid bowler, lottery player, Nintendo player, the director of Standish recreation, starting the ski program, and was instrumental in installing the tennis courts at Johnson Field. She worked for over 25 years at the Windham Post Office where she was loved by the people she served and her coworkers. Her favorite times were spent watching her favorite game shows and any New England Sports team but especially the Boston Celtics.
Norma is survived by her four children, daughter Laurie Richardson-Briggs of Standish, daughter Ra-Lynn Verrillo of Portland, son Ronald Richardson and wife Joan of Standish, and son Jamie Richardson and wife Paula of Standish, and grandchildren Heather and Frank, Anthony and Vanessa, Josh and Lauren, Tommy, Alex, Christian, Connor and Kelly, Allina, Lea, and Lewin, great- grandchildren, Maria, Reid and Kayla, Ryan, Quinton, Hadley, Lewie, Joanna, Callum, Cole, and Gianna and great-great grandson Adrian, several nieces and nephews, her beloved Boston Terrier Luna and grand-dog Abby and many others who were honorary members of the Richardson Family.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine, especially Jerry and Lynne, for their care and compassion.
There will be a private graveside service on Friday May 30, 2025 at 2PM at Hillside Cemetery in Gorhan Maine. We invite everyone to honor Neenieās memory by sharing a laugh with a game show playing in the background. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Standish Recreation 175 Chadborne Rd Standish Maine or Hospice of Southern Maine
