Obituary

Ross Wayne Wynn, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Fitzgerald Church of the Nazarene in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Gary Mimbs and the Rev. Steve Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.

Mr. Wynn was born April 24, 1943, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Robert Lee & Dora Vickers Wynn. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years of service. After retirement, he worked with his daughter, Jill at Affordable Insurance Services. Mr. Wynn was an avid Fitzgerald Hurricane fan and a lifetime member of the booster club. He drove a school bus countless miles for all Fitzgerald athletics for 34 years. He was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Wynn was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of the Nazarene and was affectionally known as “Pa”.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Dwayne & Rachel Wynn of Fitzgerald, Chris & Michelle Wynn of Athens, Sandy Wynn of Fitzgerald, Jill & Tracy Nipper of Alapaha; grandchildren: Bailey & Carlee Alexander, Bella Burnette, Andy Nipper, Chloe Nipper, Gwynnie Wynn, Ross Wynn, Wil Wynn, and Reese Wynn; and two great-grandchildren: Harper Ann and Hudson; siblings: Haynes Wynn & Judy of Fitzgerald, Joann Barrs of Irwin County, and Judy Roberts of Douglas. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Anna Woods Wynn.
