Obituary

Robert P. Foley, 82, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret A. Foley, with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage.
Born in Detroit, MI on January 31, 1943, Robert was the son of the late Catherine T. (Armstrong) and George Foley. He was educated in Lowell and attended Lowell High School. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was a proud American.

For many years, Robert worked in Production Control for Raytheon in Andover, MA. He was also a talented singer, performing with the locally renowned groups “The Continentals” and “The Highland Players”. Robert was a tall, handsome man known for his bright smile and charming personality. He often shared jokes or stories from his childhood in Lowell. A passionate boxing fan and history enthusiast, Robert enjoyed dining out and spending time with family and friends. He especially cherished trips to Mohegan Sun with his wife, Peggy.

Robert is survived by his three children: Lori Mahoney and her husband, Shawn, of Bluffton, South Carolina; Kerri Valorose and her husband, Christopher, of Plaistow, NH; and his son, Ron Foley of Tewksbury. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Brian McMahon, and his wife, Gloria, of Hampstead, NH; his sister-in-law Helen B. (Marchand) Foley; and his niece, Kathleen Foley-Starr, and her husband, David, of Pelham, NH.

Additionally, Robert leaves behind his grandchildren: Joshua Mahoney and his wife, Claire; Alyssa and her husband, Jeremy Gath; Shannon Mahoney; Jonathan Savina; Amanda Savina; Mollie Valorose; Samantha Valorose; Lauren Savina; Lindsay Savina; and his two great-grandsons, Patrick and Colin Mahoney. He also leaves behind his dear lifelong friends, Don and Joanne Morrow of Dracut.

Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald Thomas Foley and George "Buddy" Foley.

You are welcome to attend his visitation on Wednesday April 30, 2025 from 10am until 11am at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852, 978-458-6816, His funeral service will take place in the funeral home following the visitation at 11am. Burial in St Patrick Cemetery.
