Mildred A.(Stappen) Ritz, age 88, of Taunton, formerly of Norton, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick F. Ritz, to whom she was wed for fifty-eight years at the time of his death on February 14, 2014.
Born in Boston, MA on October 19, 1936, she was a loving daughter of the late Everett and Ruth (Riley) Stappen.
Mildred grew up and was educated in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and prior to retiring had worked as a Press Operator at Leach & Garner in Attleboro for thirty-five years.
Devoted to her family, Mildred had resided in Taunton for the past thirty-one years, was formerly of Norton and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. Her hobbies included feeding and watching the birds that adorned her yard, gardening and watching a good murder mystery movie on TV.
She is survived by her devoted children, Frank P. Ritz of Taunton and his late wife Vivian, Anthony J. Ritz of Florida, Trish A. Beninati and her husband John of Stoughton and the late Michele Roy. She was the cherished grandmother of Michael Ritz and his wife Erin, Mark Ritz, April Ritz, Amanda Beninati, Dillon Beninati, the late David Ritz and was the treasured great grandmother of Savannah Ritz, Elliot Ritz and Giada Ritz. She was the dear sister of Ronnie Stappen, Russell Stappen, Gordon Stappen and his late wife Rita, Sandra Higgins and the late Charles Stappen, Everett Stappen and his late wife Nona, Arthur Stappen and his late wife Pat, Pat Johnson, Ruth Dollard and her late husband James, Madlyn Stappen, Raymond Stappen, Richie Stappen and Kenny Stappen.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, April 29th from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
