GILFORD ---- Alice Dianne Beyrent, 77, longtime resident of Gilford, NH, passed away the morning of Monday, April 21, 2025.
She was born August 14, 1947 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Harry and Grace (Agneau) Richie.
She met John Beyrent while earning her bachelor’s degree at Wilkes College in Wilkes Barre, PA. They married in August 1968 and remained married for 55 years until John’s passing in 2023.
Alice’s career focused around education (from preschool to college) and her last position was as an adjunct professor of early childhood education and development. She also edited and co-authored textbooks on the subject. Her passion was for music, playing clarinet in the Gilford Community Band, in many of the fall musical productions at the Gilford High School, in a trio for many years, and at several recitals. Alice often rang bells at First United Methodist Church of Gilford. For decades, she taught private clarinet lessons. Alice was an avid reader and lifelong learner. Most of her time was spent reading very long history books, cross stitching, watching British dramas, and adoring her English springer spaniels and cat. Alice worshipped at the First United Methodist Church of Gilford for 40 years.
Alice is survived by daughter Heather and her husband, Bryan Doughty, and grandchildren Brynn, Hayden, and Bryce; son Erich and his partner, Jenna Caddell, and grandchildren Christopher and Nicholas; son Geoffrey and his partner, Xandria Ponte; sister Grace Ostrum and her husband Matt; stepsister Phyllis Morgan and her husband Leon.
