John F. Hanlon, 81

John F. Hanlon, age 81, an Army Veteran and longtime resident of Mansfield, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Hope Health Hospice center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on July 16, 1943 to John F. Hanlon and Alta Nevers Hanlon. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1962 and entered the Army in 1964. John was a proud veteran who truly loved his country.
After his military service, he went to work for the Cleveland Twist Drill Company in Mansfield as a machinist. He worked there for 28 years until the company closed in 1994. John was also an avid custom knife collector and purveyor from the early 1970’s until his death, and he helped to establish and promote new custom knife makers.
He met his wife, Judith C. Janes in 1966, and they were married on February 17, 1968. John loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was very supportive of his children’s music careers and attended their performances often. John will be remembered as a very loving husband, father and friend. He will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith C. Hanlon, his daughter, Melanie J. Hanlon and his son, John P. Hanlon and daughter in law, Ariane Claire. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited services with military honors on Thursday, May 8th at 12:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, in Bourne.
Those attending the services are asked to please go directly to the cemetery and kindly arrive by 12:30 P.M.
