Daniel A. “Dan” Noury, 72, of Johnston, passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 18th at his home. He was the beloved husband of Elaine M. (Rattey) Noury. They had been married for 50 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Leo and Irene (Turgeon) Noury. He was previously a Greenville resident for 42 years.
After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in Central Falls in 1970, he pursued a degree in business from Bryant College. Dan dedicated 50 years of his life working for Aid Maintenance in Pawtucket before retiring in 2022.
Dan was involved in Smithfield youth sports and served as a board member for the NRI Vikings. He would always be seen at his children's sporting events, either coaching, running the clock at their hockey games, or cheering them on from the stands.
An avid golfer, Dan was a member of Lincoln Country Club for 30 years. As long as the golf course was open and the snow had melted, you could find Dan there any day of the week. He also spent his free time volunteering at the Amos House and traveling with his wife.
His warm smile, kind demeanor and ability to make a mean cocktail garnered him more friends than one can count. Known for his hospitality, “Pops” loved spending time with his family and friends.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Jason Noury and his wife Lynda of Coventry, CT, Matthew Noury and his wife Marisa of Wells, ME and Caitlyn Adler and her husband Nicholas of Greenville, RI. He was “Pops” to 12 grandchildren, Dalton, Shirley and her husband Reid, Camden, Olivia, Talia, Makayla, Sasha, Julianna, Abigail, Tobias, Aubrie, and Tristan. He is also survived by his sister, Helene (Noury) Cooney and her husband Robert of Cumberland, RI. He was predeceased by his son, Joshua Noury and sister Lorraine (Noury) Black.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 24th at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. His burial will be private. A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 23rd from 3-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
