Obituary

There will be a going home service for Patricia Ann Herod Lupo, 11 AM, Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the sanctuary of Satilla Baptist Church, in Irwin County, Georgia, immediately followed by graveside services, officiated by Brother William Pope. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the sanctuary of the church.

Pat had a green thumb and doted on her Iris and daylilies; she spent many peaceful afternoons marveling at God’s work. Caring for violets and loved ones brought her much joy. Baking the best key lime cake in the county, she glowed with pride taking them to church and gifting them to those closest to her. Pat never left a gathering without a big hug and I love you, she made sure each family member as well as a few chosen people around town had a handmade Christmas stocking, we cherish them just as we do the aroma of fresh baked oatmeal raisin cookies & the time spent in laughter.

Pat passed away peacefully in the arms of her sister in their home early Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born to the late Jack Herod and Martha Hudson Herod McCook, in Ocilla, Georgia, October 13, 1944. She attended Irwin County High School where she danced beautifully and lived largely. She was a member of Satilla Baptist Church and will leave us with all her favorite songs ringing to the Heavens, escorted by pallbearers who meant the world to her: Ricky Edwards, Brian Phillips, Joe Thompson, Cole Harper, Greg Vickers, and Cody Youghn.

She is survived by her daughter, Traci Harper of Ocilla; grandsons: Mark Anthony Hogan and great-granddaughters: Riley Hart Hogan and Ella Hudson Hogan, all of Florida; William “Billy” Thomas Harper & Alexis, parents of great-grandsons Peyton Parker and Dawson Harper, all of Nevada. She leaves behind a niece and a nephew who meant the world to her but most cherished and closely coveted was her sister and best friend, Nelda Herod Vigneri, the bond was inseparable and unmatched. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Mark Lupo; and a brother, James “Jimmy” Nathan Herod. Pat left this earth knowing she was safe and loved, for that we are eternally thankful.

Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in charge of arrangements.
