Marilyn Grace (Johnson) Yesonis (92) of Brockton passed away on March 31st in the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham. She was the wife of the late Albert Robert Yesonis.
She was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Vintant and Anna (Poskus) Johnson. Marilyn was a retired bookkeeper who brought joy and laughter to all those around her. She had a zest for life, enjoying the thrill of a good game of chance. Whether at the casino or scratching off a lottery ticket, she found excitement in life’s little surprises. Marilyn spent many years in Dennis, where she enjoyed the beauty of Mayflower Beach. A devoted supporter of her late husband’s military service, she was a longtime member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. Marilyn was also an active volunteer with the AA Organization for over 50 years and with Catholic Charities. In her leisure time, she took great pleasure in knitting, traveling to Aruba, and, above all, cherishing the time spent with her family, friends and beloved pets.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters: Michele (Dodero) Kinahan and her husband Tony of West Bridgewater, Joanne (Dodero) Gillespie of West Bridgewater, and Marianne Dodero of Marshfield. She is also survived by her sister, Margery DaSilva and her husband Cappy, and was predeceased by her siblings Dorothy Spagna, Thomas Johnson, and Regina Garnier. Marilyn leaves behind three grandchildren—Jason Gothage, and Michael and Anthony Kinahan—and was the proud grandmother of the late Nicole Gillespie. She cherished her great-grandchildren: Haylie, Jason, Eleanora, James and Owen, and two twin great-grandsons on the way. Marilyn will also be remembered by her longtime friend, Frank Sullivan.
