LOWELL - Cheryle A. (Belski) Sutherland, age 45, a supervisor at Lahey Clinic Medical Center
in Burlington, died Monday morning, August 14, at her Highlands home. She died peacefully,
surrounded by her family, after a courageous three year battle with lung cancer. She was the
wife of Thomas Sutherland, with whom she would have celebrated a 16th wedding anniversary on
September 22nd.
She was born in Winchester the daughter of Alexander M. Belski of Tewksbury, and the late Joan
(Renninnson) Belski. She was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated Tewksbury Memorial High
School. She later attended Norther Essex Community College.
She worked as a patient financial services supervisor at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, until ilness
forced her retirement in 2005.
Besides her husband and father, she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, A. Matthew Belski
Jr., and his wife Cynthia (Hatch) of West Newbury; her father-in-law, James Sutherland Sr. of
Arlington; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, James Sutherland Jr and his wife Mary of
Canton, Kevin and Judy Sutherland of Tewksbury, Mary and Gary Tibbetts and Brian Sutherland
all of Arlington, Daniel and Sharon Sutherland of Sudbury; several aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews; and her feline ‘best friends’ Scruffy and Shadow.
She was also daughter-in-law of the late Doris (Curley) Sutherland who died in 2004.
Her funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 16, in the
funeral home. Following cremation, interment will be private. Memorials to
