Obituary

Kenneth E. Couey, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 14, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Wednesday, August 16, at the Church Of The Nazarene, with Rev. Dan Hayes, Rev. James Hubbard and Rev. Steve Hood officiating. Interment will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 17 in the Flippen United Methodist Church Cemetery, Flippen, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Couey was born November 29, 1918, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to the late Roger Edward and Era Ketura Thompson Couey. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1994 from Tucker, Georgia. Mr. Couey was a retired Engineer for Ford Motor Company and was former maintenance supervisor for Dekalb Community College. He served as Chief Petty Officer in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and he then served in the United States Army. Mr. Couey was a member of the Church Of The Nazarene.

Mr. Couey is survived by his wife: Marline Minix Couey of Fitzgerald; sons: Kenneth E. Couey of St John, IN and Raymond L. Couey of Lenoir City, TN; stepdaughter: Darline King of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren: Christopher Couey, Kenney Couey, Alicia Couey and Raymond Patrick Couey; 2 step-grandchildren: Denee King and Dylan King; 1 great-grandchild: Christopher Jackson Couey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Virginia Couey.
