Dorothy M. (Richards) Sheridan, 96, of Walpole died on Sunday July 23, 2006 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA She was the beloved wife of the late Irwin S. Sheridan.
Born in Mansfield, MA on November 26, 1909 she was a dear daughter of the late Lewis A. and Lillias M. (Austin) Richards.
She was educated in Mansfield schools and was a 1927 graduate of Mansfield High School. Pursuing a career in nursing she went on to become a 1932 graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for several years as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital and was also a homemaker.
Dorothy was a member of the Congregational Church of Littleton for 50 years. She loved to read and attend to her gardens; her favorite flower being orchids. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at New pond Village in Walpole. Dorothy was also quite knowledgeable on the subject of antiques. She had made her home in Walpole for the past 16 years and was formerly of Littleton for 57 years and was a 18 year native of Mansfield.
She is survived by her grand niece Sarah Giovagnoli of Eagle, Colorado. She was the sister of the late Alice A. Pearson. She was the cousin of the late Milton Cory and Edward Cory. She is also survived by her dear friends Jodi S. Wilson of Meredith, New Hampshire and Marsha Linton of Lunenburg, MA
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday August 19th at 10:00 A.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours are omitted. Donations in Dorothy’s memory made to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
