LIMINGTON- Calvin C. Lewis, age 82, US Navy Veteran, Freemason, and husband of Therese, passed away at his home on March 20, 2025, after an ongoing battle with lung issues.
He was born in Limington on February 1, 1943, a son of the late Wilbur (Pappy) and Vyrenne (Mammy) (Day) Lewis. After graduating from Bonny Eagle High School he joined the Navy from 1962 to 1966. He worked for Oakhurst Dairy, then worked for CJ Harmon doing construction, working with Carl at the Steep Falls Grain Store, owner of Captain Sandy’s Restaurant in Limington, then went to work doing Peerless Wielding, then began his excavating company, New Hope Excavating, and retired as a landlord of several properties.
He was a Limington selectman, a road commissioner, and a proud member of the Mason’s. Cal enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, horseshoes, playing pool with his family and friends, his annual vacation with his wife in Okeechobee, Florida, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all, his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, his brothers- Richard Lewis and Micheal Lewis, and his sister- Janet Harmon.
He is survived by his wife Therese of 37 years, his dogs- Henry and Andy, his children- Ranee Coffin, Lovedy Langlois, Deidra Burdin and her husband Jake, and his step-son John Mazziotti and his wife Leanne, his four grandchildren- Taylor and Jude Burdin, and Wyatt and Chyenne Langlois, his step-grandkids Cameron and Braden, one great-grandchild Silas Ernest, and a special niece Jo-Jo.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 12th from 1 - 2 PM, followed by a 2 PM Masonic Funeral Service at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A private burial will be at a later date at the Lewis Family Cemetery in Porter, with a public celebration of life to follow (date to be announced).
