Obituary

DUDLEY – Sophie Rose (Borowski) McKinstry, 75, of 124 Old Southbridge Road, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, in Lanessa Extended Care Facility, with her family by her side.

She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Leon J. “Bud” McKinstry; 2 sons, Bruce L. McKinstry and his wife Nancy of Charlton, and Gary S. McKinstry and his wife Virginia of Dudley; her only grandchild, Scott McKinstry of Dudley; a brother, John Holop of Spencer; and a sister, Sophie Schellbach of Dudley.

She was born on February 13, 1931, in Dudley and lived there all her life. She suffered a stroke that brought on dementia, requiring the special care of Lanessa Extended Care Facility in Webster.

Sophie worked in the dietary department at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster for 20 years, retiring in 1982. After that, she worked alongside her husband Bud and sons Gary and Bruce at Bud’s Country Store in Quinebaug, CT.

She and her husband Bud were inseparable. Her grandson Scott was her pride and joy. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans for family and friends. She also enjoyed her garden and flowers. She will be sorely missed, and continually in her family’s hearts and prayers.

A funeral service will be held at 8:30 PM Tuesday, August 15, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street,Webster. Her son, Reverend Gary S. McKinstry, will officiate. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday, August 15, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or donations made to the Mass. Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773
