Margarette Evelyn Chandler, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, August 11, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Sunday, August 13, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 6 PM. A funeral service and burial will follow in Astatula, Florida.
Mrs. Chandler was born August 24, 1924, in Houston County, Alabama, to the late Henry Alonza and Maggie Mae Harp Hicks. She lived in Fitzgerald for the past five years from Tavares, FL. Mrs. Chandler and her husband were owners of Al’s Quality Foliage, in Apopka, FL for thirty years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald and a former member and nursery worker at New England Heights Baptist Church in Apopka.
Mrs. Chandler is survived by her children: Rex (Betty) Chandler of Apopka, FL, Peggy Speer of Marietta, Betty (Jerry) Floyd of Apopka, FL, Ronnie (Candy) Chandler of Astatula, FL and Rhonda (John) Donahue of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: J.C. (Clemmie) Hicks of Apopka, FL and George Hicks of Deltona, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Chandler and five sisters.
