Mr. Kenneth Thomas Buck of Andover, beloved husband of the late Florence Elizabeth (Bernard) Buck died at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on August 9, 2006. He was 81 years old.
Born in Chatham, Massachusetts, on June 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Mary A. (McDermott) Buck. Mr. Buck was retired from Raytheon in 1975 where he had been an electrical inspector for more than ten years. He was a long time communicant of St. Augustine Church in Andover, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Andover and an avid historian. Mr. Buck was also an avid train enthusiast and a collector of H.O. scale trains. Ken enlisted in Army at Boston, Massachusetts, on August 4, 1943 and received his honorable discharge in the Mason General Hospital, Brentwood, New York, June 18, 1945. He had attained the rank of PVT and worked as an ammunition handler during the Western European Campaign. While serving in the military, he earned the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon and a Purple Heart.
Mr. Buck will be sorely missed by his beloved 10 children; Atty. John and his wife Gladys Buck of Haverhill, Peter and his wife Sandra Buck of Lawrence, James and his wife Jacqueline of Salem, N.H., David and his wife Mary Buck of Methuen, Nancy McLean of Methuen, Joseph and his wife Janice Buck of Methuen, Paul and his wife Lisa Buck of Haverhill, Kenneth and his wife Karen Buck of Haverhill, Stephen Buck of Derry, N.H. and Robert Buck of Andover, 3 brothers-in-laws; John Bernard of FL and Herbert and Leo Bernard, both of Andover, sister-in-law; Amelia Candala of CA, good friend; Joe Buckley of Chatham, 21 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church 43 Essex Street, Andover, Wednesday, August 16, at 10:30 AM. Many relatives and friends attended. Calling hours were in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Tuesday, August 15, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery, Andover.
