Gertrude A. Gallien, 84, of Derry, NH died August 10, 2006 at Haven Healthcare in Derry. She was born in Derry on August 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Aurore (Landry) Levesque and lived in Derry all of her life. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, class of 1940 and prior to her retirement, was employed in the office by Klev Bro Shoe for many years and later by Buckley Egg Express. Mrs. Gallien was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry. She was a member and the secretary of the St. Thomas Tabernacle Society. She loved to travel and was an avid Scrabble player. Gertrude enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, gardening and riding her moped.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Francis J. Gallien of Derry; a brother, Raymond Levesque of Hooksett, NH; and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by two sisters, Jeannette Grasso and Fleurette Welch.
Calling hours were on Sunday, August 13th from 4 to 7 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, August 14th at 10 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry, NH.
