Obituary

FRANKLIN: Robert T. “Buck” Rodgers 80 of 25 Greystone Road died Wednesday August 9, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his devoted family. He was the Husband of the late Evelyn M. (McKean) Rodgers, who died in 2004

Born in Needham, July 2, 1926, a son of the late Henry S. and Laura Jane (Jones) Rodgers, he lived in Medfield for most of his life until moving to Franklin in 2000.

He was raised and educated in Needham, and had attended Emerson College.

He retired in the early 1990’s from Corningware Industries in Medfield, where he worked as a manager.

During WW II he served in the US Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Pfc. and was stationed throughout the South Pacific theater. He participated in action with the enemy in Saipan and Okinawa. He received the Good Conduct Medal, and was honorably discharged in March 1946.

He was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, The American Assoc. of Retired Persons, and the Franklin Rod and Gun Club. He was also a former member of the Medfield Lions Club.

He is survived by 2 sons: Robert T. Rodgers, Jr. of Franklin, Douglas A. Rodgers of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, 2 daughters: Lynne A. Chludenski of Uxbridge, and Christine A. Andrews of Franklin, a brother William Rogers in France, 1 sister: Jean Tiffany of Moultonboro, New Hampshire and 6 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Monday at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. www.franklinfuneral.com Interment will follow at the family lot in Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield.

Calling hours are Sunday from 3 – 7 PM.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory sent to the American Cancer Society 1115 W. Chestnut St. Brockton, MA 02301 would be appreciated.

The kindness, dignity, strength and wit that made Buck such a wonderful friend and mentor will be missed by many, but remembered always as the hallmark of a good man and a true soldier Friends and family, young and old alike have Buck to thank for years of good laughs and unwavering support, which is the best testament to a life well-lived and well-loved.
