David E. Forbes Sr. of Pawcatuck, formerly from Berlin MA, died peacefully at home Monday with his family at his side.
He was the husband of Gail (Spencer) Forbes. He is also survived by 3 brothers, 7 children and 15 grandchildren. He served 4 years in the Coast Guard on the USCGC Duane WPG33 out of Boston MA.
David drove tractor trailer for 27years before his illness. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 15 years, teaching Boating classes and doing Vessel Safety checks. David was also the controversial Harbormaster for the Pawcatuck River. He was appointed to the position in 2005. He also served on the Pawcatuck River Harbor Management Commission.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-7:45pm. A service will immediately follow at 8pm with Fr. Charles McGrail, Pastor of St. Patrick Church, Mystic, officiating. Burial will be private.
