St. Petersburg, Florida
Elizabeth M. (McGrath) Schnyer formerly of Whitman and West Yarmouth passed Friday August 4th in St. Petersburg, Florida after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 64 years of Raymond Schnyer.
Born in Whitman she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Lyons) McGrath.
Elizabeth grew up in Whitman a graduate of Whitman High School, later attending and graduating from Brant & Stratton School in Boston and was the former secretary to the Whitman Planning Board.
She worked as an election official in Whitman before moving to the Cape where she and her husband owned and operated the Castle Dawn Motel in Yarmouth for many years before retiring to Florida.
Elizabeth was a member of the Women’s Guild and the Woman’s Sodality of the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.

(McGrath) 90, beloved wife of 64 years of Raymond Schnyer; devoted mother of Richard Schnyer and his wife Margo of Merrimack, NH & Ft. Meyers, FL, John Schnyer, retired Whitman Police Chief and his wife Debra of Hanover, William Schnyer and his wife Deborah of Venice, FL, David Schnyer of Skaneateles, NY, Gary Schnyer and his wife Dana of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Riddle of Wells, ME,. She is survived by Donna Schnyer of NH wife of her late son Martin. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren. She was the last surviving sibling of her late brother Daniel McGrath and her late sisters Mary & Theresa McGrath.
Her funeral will be held Thursday August 10th at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, followed by a Funeral Mass @ 10:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.
