Kevin Bolio, a retired Needham Police Officer died on Sunday August 6, 2006 at the Stanley R. Tippett House in Needham. He was 58 years old. Born in Waltham, Kevin grew up in Waltham and Newton. He joined the Needham Police department at the age of 22 and retired in 2003 due to illness. He was a member of the Needham Police Honor Guard and the Needham Police Patrolman’s Association. Kevin organized the Needham Policeman’s Ball and their Children’s Christmas Party for many years. As a police officer, Kevin became a friend to the senior citizens and youth of Needham. He organized trips to Foxwoods and Christmas dinners for the senior citizens and trips to Canobie Lake Park for kids with special needs. Kevin was involved with many local charities including Brittle Bone Disease (osteogenesis imperfecta), for which he coordinated many celebrity softball games. He was also involved in fund raising for the New England Sports Museum. Kevin was an avid sports fan and coached softball in Needham and pitched in the Newton Softball league. Kevin was the beloved husband for 25 years of Jeanne E. (Panella), he was the loving father of Michael K. and Lindsey G. both of Needham and Jennifer Bolio of Newton. Son of Robert and Joan (Bennett) of St. Petersburg, FL. Brother of Bruce Bolio of Marblehead and Lady Lake FL, Scott Bolio of Clinton, Craig Bolio of St. Petersburg, FL, Brian Bolio of Webster, NY, Barry Bolio of West Newton, Robyn Breton of Pinellas Park, FL, Kerry Bolio of St. Petersburg, FL, Julie Rangelof Maynard, Maura Morse of Buzzards Bay, Wendy Sparks of St. Petersburg, FL, Kelley Bolio of Buzzards Bay and Shawn Bolio of Mashpee. Son In law of Edward and Virginia Panella of Needham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday August 10th at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Wed 4-8 PM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.
