Rev. Gerald J. Foley of St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, formerly of Needham, died August 3, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Manor. He was 77. Rev. Foley was born in Boston and was the son of the late Timothy and Margaret (Doona) Foley. Rev. Foley was ordained a Priest at the Holy Cross Cathedral on February 2, 1955. From the time he was ordained to until his retirement in 1999, he served many parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Boston. They included; St. Benedict, Somerville (1955), St. Paul, Hingham (1957), St. Mary, Revere (1967), St. Mary, Walpole (1977), St. Mary, East Boston (1982), O.L. of the Rosary, Stoughton (1989), St. Bernadette, Randolph (1989), Blessed Sacrament, Saugus (1995). He retired to Senior Priest Status in 1999.
He was the brother of the late Nora M. Conroy. He was the uncle of Robert J. Conroy of Medway and Thomas M. Conroy and his wife Melissa of Franklin. Great uncle to Samantha, Kelsey, Ashley and Emily Conroy.
His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, on Tuesday, Aug. 8th, at 9:00 AM. His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Needham, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Rev. Foley’s memory to St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave., Needham, MA 02492
