Inez Stone Gibbs, 87, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, August 2, at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Salem Baptist Church, Ben Hill County, with Rev. Randall Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Friday evening, at the funeral home.
Ms. Gibbs was born June 10, 1919, in Ben Hill County, to the late Charlie F. and Beulah Livingston Stone. She lived in the community most of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School. Ms. Gibbs worked in the shipyards in Savannah during World War II. She was a former employee of McClelland’s 5 & 10 and former manager of McConnell’s Cloth Shop. Ms. Gibbs was a former member of Salem Baptist Church and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Rev. Randall & Reba Gibbs of Glenwood and Tommy & Tina Gibbs of Fitzgerald; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother.
