Doris Ray Moorman, 81, of Tifton, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Rev. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Hayward Tomblin will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews - Harold Allen, Jr., Roger Allen, Tim Dorminey, Ed Dorminey, Ted McMillan, Mike McMillan, Kip McMillan and Tom Kinchens will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Moorman was born on December 24, 1924 in Berrien County and was the daughter of D. W. "Dock" Ray and Mabel Cravey Ray, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kellis Moorman, Jr. and one brother, Henry Ray. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there. She was a bookkeeper/secretary and a volunteer with Hospice, the American Red Cross and Carousel House.
Ms. Moorman is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Reba Moorman of Omega; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jill and James Herring of Tifton and Jan Ross of Tifton; six sisters, Wilma Ikerd of Tifton, Ruby Allen of Enigma, Mittie Dorminey of Brookfield, Lucille McMillan of Enigma, Evelyn Kinchens of Jesup and Jean Signorello of Orange City, Florida; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
