THOMPSON, CT - Louis J. Martinik, 77, of New Road, died Sunday, July 30, at UMass/Memorial Health Care after an illness.
He leaves 2 sons, John Martinik and his wife Doreen, and Gary Martinik and his wife Michelle, all of Thompson; 2 daughters, Laurie Carignan of Pawcatuck, CT and Melissa Demers and her husband Adam of Plainfield, CT; 1 sister, Irene Daviau of Oxford; 5 grandchildren, Joshua and Julie Martinik, Tya and Tanya Cote and Jessica Palazzo; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his former wife, Jeanne (Benoit) Bennett and a sister, Sophie Quigley.
Born in East Douglas, Mr. Martinik was raised in Webster and was a graduate of Bartlett High School.
He was employed for over 30 years as a machinist, retiring from Fenwal Electronics in Milford, MA.
Mr. Martinik was a U.S. Army veteran and was honorably discharged on February 8, 1957. He was a former communicant of Saint Anthony Church. He will be remembered for his love of reading and fishing as well as the time spent with his family and grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday, August 4, at 7:00 PM in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, in the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
