Obituary

Joseph R. Cabral, 84, died at home in Randolph on Sunday, July 30 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Thelma (Brooks) (Hill) Cabral. Born and educated in Stoughton, Mr. Cabral lived in Randolph for the past 27 years. He was a self-employed building contractor and the owner of a gas station. Mr. Cabral served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Stoughton and the DAV and the Elks both in Randolph.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cabral is survived by his children, Francis Cabral of Randolph, Kathleen Ross of Gloucester, Joseph Cabral, Jr. of Sandwich, Cynthia Spagna of Raynham, Marjorie Simon of Holbrook, and Michael Cabral of Walpole. Mr. Cabral was also survived by his step-children, Ronald “Ron” Hill of Bridgewater and Cindy Burns of Brandon, FL. He was the brother of Elizabeth Cabral of Boston, Edward Cabral of Middleboro and the late Beverly Silva, Oscar Cabral and Francis Cabral who was killed in action during WWII. Mr. Cabral also left 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, August 2 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Donations in Joseph’s name may be made to the Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
