Obituary

Esther A. (Erickson) Wojcik, 86, of Fairhaven died Saturday July 29, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Stanley A. Wojcik; they had been married for 64 years.


A lifelong resident of Fairhaven, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Annie (Rooney) Erickson. She was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.


Mrs. Wojcik was formerly employed as Clerk of Veterans Affairs for the Town of Fairhaven until her retirement.


She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, where she was a member of the Choir and the St. Vincent dePaul Society and a charter member of the Couples Club. She was a member of the Gaudreau Civic Choir, the Fairhaven Colonial Club, and the Municipal Workers Retirees Club. She was a volunteer for the Fairhaven Friends of the Elderly and The Shepherd's Pantry. She was the recipient of a certificate of appreciation from the American Legion Post 166 and the Veterans Administration Distinguished Achievement Award. She was also very active in Fairhaven politics and served as a Town Meeting member for many years.


She is lovingly remembered by her husband; her six children, Ann Wojcik of Thomaston, CT, Louise Snyder and her husband Howard of Pembroke, Edward Wojcik and his wife Debra and Stanley Wojcik and his wife Cindi, all of Fairhaven, Lisa Buckley of Rochester, and Eric M. Wojcik of Taunton; her two brothers, Eric Erickson and his wife Irene of Fairhaven and William Erickson of Palm Coast, FL; her four sisters, Elvera Campanella of Fairhaven, Barbara Peckham of Easton, Doris Armitage and her husband James of Old Lyme, CT, and Irene Croteau of New Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
