Shrewsbury—Russell A. Mattson, 86, formerly of Worcester, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006. His wife, Christine M. (Southgate) Mattson passed away in 1976. He leaves a son, Russell Mattson and his wife Nancy of Worcester; a daughter, Dawn Williston and her husband Harry of Holden; 4 grandsons, John and Christopher Mattson and Russell and Andrew Williston; and 3 nephews, John, Bob, and Ron Mattson. A brother, Fred Mattson predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Fritz and Hilda (Karlson) Mattson and graduated from Commerce High School in 1938. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps WWII veteran and served as a B-17 crew chief mechanic in Cambridge, England. He worked at Norton Co. for 44 years as a laboratory research technician. He was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge, Millbury, Scottish Rite 32nd degree and the NORCO Sportsman’s Club in Princeton. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 31, at 12 o’clock noon in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery.
