Hattie Miranda King Wiggins, 87, of Valdosta passed away Monday, December 2, 2002, at Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Clayton Davis officiating. Mrs. Wiggins was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Robby Miller, Justin Miller, Shean Miller, Jason Wiggins, Jerry Hendley, Stefan Wiggins, Michael Steinmeyer and David Wiggins served as pallbearers.
Born January 23, 1915, in Tift County, Mrs. Wiggins was the daughter of the late Matthew Jackson King and Dona Arnold King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer David Wiggins, who passed away in 1997; three brothers; and two sisters. Before retiring, she was a school lunchroom worker; and she was a member of Saint Luke Baptist Church in Valdosta.
Mrs. Wiggins is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Benny Lee and Ellen Wiggins of Saint Louis, Missouri, Royce Jackson and Juanita Wiggins of Valdosta and Jimmy Loyal and Jean Wiggins of Birmingham, Alabama; two daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel and Rufus Hayes and Cynthia Lynn and Donnie Miller, all of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Ethel McGee of Nashville; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
