Obituary

Charles Emmett Waldrop, 74, of White Springs, Florida passed away Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Waldrop at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. Doug Maloney officiated.

Mr. Waldrop's grandson and nephews served as pallbearers.

Born June 2, 1927, in Tift County, Mr. Waldrop was the son of the late Julius Grover Waldrop and Dollie Morris Waldrop. He was also preceded in death by five brothers; and four sisters. Before retiring, he was an electrician; and he was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Waldrop was educated in Tifton schools and excelled in sports, especially football. He attended Georgia Military College and then served two years in military service in Germany in the United States Army, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was also a member of White Springs, Florida United Methodist Church.

Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife, Mary Powell Waldrop of White Springs, Florida; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Lee and Fariba Waldrop and Joseph Doyle Waldrop, all of Washington, D. C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Donald Adams of Thomson; one brother, Edward Waldrop of Four Oaks, Texas; one sister, Frances Waldrop Barfield of Tifton; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
