CHALLENER, JOHN E. Sr. “JACK” 90 of New Milford NJ died Thursday, July 27, 2006. Beloved husband of Jessica (nee Connell). Loving father of Dene Durrenberger and her husband Bruce, June Offringa and her husband Jesse and John E. Challener Jr. and his wife Lorraine. Adored brother of Louise Banta. Devoted grandfather of Sheri Breen and her husband Michael, Bruce Durrenberger, Jr. and his wife Jodi, Kerri Lehnert and her husband Jeff, Jennifer Commerford and her husband Daniel, Bryan and Patrick Challener. Cherished great-grandfather of Conor, Shannon and Alanna Breen, Alexa Lehnert and Aidan and Kelsey Commerford. Before retiring in 1974, he was a United States Postal Worker. Jack was an Army Veteran of WWII and a past member of the New Milford VFW Post 4290. He was a member of the New Milford Athletic Club and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church in Oradell.Friends and family will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Volk-Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday 9:00AM from the funeral home then to St. Joseph’s RCC, Oradell for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM.
