E. Bridgewater- Eleanor (McCutcheon) Doherty, 92, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Harold F. Doherty.
Born Nov. 30, 1913, in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mollie (Titus) McCutcheon and was a graduate of Brockton High School.
She was a sales clerk at Saffler’s in Whitman.
Mrs. Doherty also taught knitting at various evening schools and from her home.
A member of the East Bridgewater United Methodist Church, she was on the school committee there, as well as other committees.
She had been a resident of E. Bridgewater for 70 years, coming from Brockton, where she grew up.
Mrs. Doherty was also a member of the East Bridgewater Women’s Club and East Bridgewater Grange and enjoyed knitting and sewing.
She was the mother of Janice Elmore of Arlington, VA, and Robert Doherty of Bourne; sister of the late Walter. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her Funeral service will be held in the East Bridgewater United Methodist Church Wednesday at 11 am. Visiting hours omitted. Burial is private.
