Obituary

Thursday, July 25, 2002, marked the passing of Donald Dodson White, 79, of Tifton at Ashburn Health Care. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. White was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Ray Jensen, Mills Cottle, David Hilliard, Tommy Nalls, Mike Wilder and Jim Adcock served as pallbearers.

Donald was known by all as a generous, warm and fun-loving person. Born December 28, 1922, in Omega, Mr. White was the son of David E. White and Frances Helen Dodson White, longtime residents of Tifton. Mr. White also had one sister, Mary Dent White; and one brother, David E. White, all of which are deceased.

Mr. White spent most of his vocational life in the recreational turfing business. He managed the planting and renovation of such prestigious properties as the Augusta national Golf Club and countless other PGA affiliated courses. His favorite time of the year was in the spring, where he served as the "longest standing" tour guide for the Augusta National golf tournaments.

Mr. White also actively participated as Sergeant in World War II for the United States Army as a military policeman, Division #192 in Algeria. There, he met his wife, Isabelle. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 21 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Isabelle Romera White of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and Brad Cameron of Augusta and Frances White-Hoche of Tifton and Steffen Hoche of Valencia, California; and one grandson, Brad Cameron, Jr.

For those who knew Donald, his warm, loving personality will live in their hearts forever. He is deeply loved by his family and will be missed more than he could ever imagine.
