Margaret Kilgore Wood, 75, of Enigma passed away Monday, November 18, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Foy Kind and the Rev. Tony Roberts officiating. Mrs. Wood was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery.
Tracy Wood, Travis Goff, Patrick Warren, Bobby Wood, Mike Wood, Nikkie Whiley and Michael Derek Whiley served as pallbearers.
Born March 30, 1927, in Gate City, Virginia, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Sherman Isaac Kilgore and Bertha Harris Kilgore Ireson. She was also preceded in death by one step-son, Jay Dee Wood; three brothers, Milburn J. Kilgore, John Wesley Kilgore and Jimmy Kilgore; and one sister, Leta Mae Gray. Before retiring, she was a cashier in the retail business; and she was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Enigma.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, J. D. Wood of Enigma; two sons, Gary Young of Panasoffkee, Florida and Hollie Young, Jr. of Tennessee; two daughters, Faith Lane of Enigma and Mary Jane Williams of Nashville; one step-son, Clifford Wood of Plant City, Florida; two brothers, Glen Kilgore of Tennessee and Fred Kilgore of Virginia; one sister, Tempie Marshal of Virginia; and eleven grandchildren.
