Obituary

John S. Cavacco Jr, 73, of Plymouth, at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Shirley (Everson) Cavacco. Born November 26, 1932 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary (Mathias) Cavacco. He was educated in the Plymouth schools and lived his entire life in North Plymouth including a home on Peck Ave and the Liberty St. home he built at age 16. He served in the U.S Army as a Medic in France during the Korean War and in the late 1950's drove heavy equipment while working road construction on Rt. 3. Since boyhood he had enjoyed horses and horse racing. Mr. Cavacco built hundreds of fireplaces, chimneys and foundations in the South Shore area while working for Henrich Homes in the 1960s and later as a self-employed mason contractor and builder. In 1996, he was diagnosed with a rare spinal tumor requiring several major surgeries and rehabilitation. Last month he and his wife celebrated 50 years of marriage. Besides his wife, he leaves a son Jack Cavacco of South Deerfield, a daughter Joan C. Gwilliamof Plymouth, a son Robert Forrest Cavacco of Plymouth, 4 grandchildren, Katie and Andy Cavacco and Rory and Jesse Gwilliam. He also leaves a nephew, a niece and several cousins. His sister, Joan M. Francis, died earlier. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday July 29th at 10 AM followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Plymouth. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth on Friday July 28th from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
