Clarice Lucille Holland Wood, 86, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at Tift Health Care. A graveside funeral service was held for Mrs. Wood at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2002, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she was laid to rest. The Rev. Floyd Richards officiated.
Born May 16, 1916, in Cleveland County, Alabama, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Christopher Milledge Seaborn Holland and Martha Ann Benefield Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Quinton M. Wood; two brothers, Vertis Olin Holland and Raynard Theodore Holland; and one sister, Emily Naomi Dees. She was a retired licensed practical nurse; and she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula.
Mrs. Wood is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Gates of Leesburg; three sisters, Erma Cleo Hicks and Mildred Wilson, both of Calhoun and Vivian Odell Purvis of Knoxville, Tennessee; and one grandson, Robert Clark "Hunter" Gates of Leesburg.
