Claudia Myrtle Parrish Sumner, 87, of Ocilla passed away Sunday, November 10, 2002, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Danny Ray and the Rev. Bobby Stone officiating. Mrs. Sumner was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Darrell Sumner, John David Sumner, Willie Nash, Bobby Rowe, Roger Sumner and Kent Harris served as pallbearers.
Born September 30, 1915, in Wheeler County, Mrs. Sumner was the daughter of the late Marion Francis Parrish and Rachael Frances Willis Parrish. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Sumner, who passed away in 1973; one son, Crawford Sumner, who passed away in 1997; and one great-grandchild. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Pioneer Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sumner is survived by one daughter, Daphine Peavy of Ocilla; one daughter-in-law, Betty Ruth Sumner, one sister, Mary Elliott of Florida; three grandsons, Jack Peavy, Tony Sumner and David Sumner; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
