Thomas McTaggart, 93, of Houston, TX and Plymouth. Beloved husband of Florence "Jean" for 53 years. Survived by his loving children Donald McTaggart of South Lake, TX, James McTaggart of Hunt, TX, Joseph McTaggart of Garner, NC and Thomas McTaggart of Lake Forest Park, WA. He also leaves his sister Ethyl Doherty of Wilmington, DE and his grandchildren Connor and Elizabeth McTaggart and Bowen Wilder. Preceded in death by his parents James and Rose McTaggart, his sister Isabel Matson and his brother James McTaggart. After high school he went to work at sea on tanker ships for the Standard Oil Company, which later became Exxon. He rose through the ranks and became an officer and chief engineer. During WWII they were torpedoed off the coast of Cuba. For his actions that day in rescuing a number of crewmembers and preventing the ship from sinking, he recieved the Merchant Marine Distinguished Service Medal and was decorated for Valor by the President. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, building furniture, painting, and ice cream. A funeral mass will be held on Friday July 28th at St. Bonaventure's Church at 10 AM followed by burial at Manomet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rt 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Thursday July 27th from 3 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
