Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2006 for Sophie (Sherman) Sokolov. Mrs. Sokolov died on July 25, 2006 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. She was 98 years old.
Born in Russia, Mrs. Sokolov came to the United States at an early age, settling with her family in Chelsea. She attended the Chelsea Public Schools and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. Mrs. Sokolov was the beloved wife of the late Abraham Sokolov who died in 1981 and mother of the late Frances Sokolov. She dedicated her life to being a loving wife and mother. She was a member of Pioneer Women, Hadassah, the Shurtleff St. Shule, and the Walnut Street Synagogue.
She is survived by her sons, Hyman Sokolov of Framingham and Irving Sokolov of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Marcy Aaron, Phillip Sokolov, Barry Sokolov, Aaron Sokolov, and Steven Sokolov; and her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Lauren, Andrew, Benjamin, Jason, and Kylie.
Services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Square) Chelsea on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Rabbi Nochum Cywiak of Cong. Agudas Shalom will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chevra Thilim of Boston Cemetery in Everett. Memorial observance will be private.
