Essie Lou Berryhill Shaw, 93, of Tifton passed away Friday, May 31, 2002, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Bill Allred officiating. Mrs. Shaw was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery.
Wyman Shaw, Gene Shaw, Larry Pitts, Mike Smith, Bill McDaniel and Ronnie Storey served as pallbearers.
Born August 27, 1908, in Marion County, Alabama, Mrs. Shaw was the daughter of the late William Silas Berryhill and Mary Ellen Maddox Berryhill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Flem Hollis Shawl; one son, Leon Shaw; one daughter, Virginia Faye Tolbert; one grandson, Jerry Cravey; one granddaughter, Jenny Lou Shaw; and one sister, Ruby Alexander. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Tifton. She had been a resident of Tift County since 1938.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by one son, Roland Shaw of Tifton; three daughters, Mable Gray of Winter Haven, Florida, Edith Marchant of Tifton and Adele Pitts of Chattahoochee, Florida; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
