Obituary

Janusz K. Purwin, 63, a longtime resident of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 in the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. Mr. Purwin was born in Warsaw, Poland on March 17, 1943, a son of the late Anatoliusz and Nonna (Filipczuk) Purwin. He graduated from Warsaw Polytechnic with a bachelor’s degree. In 1967 he came to America to escape communism and to further his education. He received another bachelor’s degree from Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, CT and then he earned his Master’s Degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in MA. He had a passion for his engineering work and worked in Hi-Tech industries in the New England area. Mr. Purwin enjoyed working on cars and he could fix anything and was also a skilled woodworker. He was also an amateur radio operator with the call sign KA1KGI. He was an active member of the Massabesic Yacht Club and had a passion for sailboat racing in the Finn Class. Mr. Purwin was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry. He was also a nature lover and enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, gardening, swimming and harvesting wild mushrooms.

A devout husband and loving father he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Danuta Purwin of Londonderry, two sons, Charles Purwin of Litchfield, NH, Oscar Purwin and his fiancée Stephanie Koch of Nashua, NH, a brother, Marek Purwin and his wife Barbara of Warsaw, Poland, several nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in Poland.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00am in the St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial was in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends called Friday from 4-8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Parish Pantry, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053.
