James Edward "Bunk" Stone, 77, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 5, 2002, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Mr. Stone was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Tommy Stone, Shane Stone, Andra Tucker, Larry Tucker, Terry Nichols and Dwayne Hobbs served as pallbearers.
Born February 27, 1925, in Norcross, Mr. Stone was the son of the late General Jackson Stone and Ollie Ashworth Stone. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Ann Stone; and one brother, Henry Stone. He was a farmer and farmed all his adult life; and he was a member New River Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Ruby Goodman Stone of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Wayne and Dianne Stone and Jimmy and Rhonda Stone, all of Tifton; two brothers, Samuel Stone of Tifton and Jim Stone of Lakeland, Florida; three sisters, Vivian Tucker, Frances Stone and Zona Bell Selph, all of Tifton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stone, James Stone III, Frank Giddens, Chris Giddens and Kevin Giddens; and two great-grandchildren, Andy Giddens and Kerri Ann Giddens.
