Obituary

Paul Perry, 80, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. Perry was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Hollis Flanders, Gary Perry, George Griffin, Ned Perry, Wilbur Dean, Clarke Harkins and Elton Dean served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Hancock, Emerson Hoffman, Denton Coleman, Charles Robinson and Ned Perry.

Born February 2, 1922, in Dublin, Mr. Perry was the son of the late Warren J. Perry and Ebbie Hobbs Perry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, A. J. Perry and Wendell Perry; and one sister, Louise Harkins. Before retiring, he was a supervisor at J. P. Stevens, where he worked for 32 years. He was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church; and he had lived in Tifton since 1963. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II, where he was a member of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Mr. Perry is survived by his wife, Bernice Dean Perry of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Pansy Perry of Brookfield; two daughters and one son-in-law, Evelyn Perry and Carol and Billy NeSmith, all of Tifton; one brother, Jack Perry of Dublin; four granddaughters and their husbands, Allison NeSmith Griffin and her husband Britton and Priscilla NeSmith Whitley and her husband Chris, all of Tifton, Diana Perry Hathcock and her husband Jeremy of Omega and Dorothy Perry of Brookfield; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Jordan Whitley of Tifton and Halan Diana Hathcock of Omega.
