William Hyman Lingefelt, III, 52, of Lenox passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Charles Nichols officiating. Mr. Lingefelt was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Harold Cole, Roger Grant, James Holifield, Kenneth Johnson, Joseph Grant and Donald Garvitte served as pallbearers.
Born March 26, 1950, in Miami, Florida, Mr. Lingefelt was the son of Grace Grant Lingefelt of Enigma and the late William Hyman Lingefelt, Jr. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Carlton Grant. He retired from the United States Army.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Lingefelt is survived by his wife, Barbara Cooper Lingefelt of Lenox; one son, William Hyman Lingefelt, IV of Tifton; two daughters, Bridget James and Shannon Lingefelt, both of Augusta; two brothers, Joseph Grant of Enigma and Roger Grant of Adel; two sisters, Joy Conger of Tifton and Carol Garvitte of Lenox; and seven grandchildren.
