Marlys Gerjets Lang, 53, of Tifton passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, in the Sanctuary of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Lawhon officiating. Mrs. Lang was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Rodney Alexander, Doug Bowen, David Hathorn, Larry Hornbuckle, Larry Hobbs, Tony Howell, Lynn Kelley, Wayne Matthews, Charles Powell and Mack Sirman served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Morgan and Cynthia Moon, Bob Patrick and the employees of Patrick Tractor Company, members of the Class III Adult V Sunday School Class and the members of the Sanctuary Choir at Tifton's First Baptist Church, Gary Vowell and the employees of the Tift County Sheriff's Department, Rosemary Alexander, Carol Bowen, Patsy Hathorn, Ty Hobbs, Carla Hornbuckle, Sandra Matthews, Nelda Powell, Marion Sirmans, Sue Patton, Walter and pat Stephens, Danny and Paula Edwards, Wallace Bodkin, Willie Andrews, Oscar Lindsey and Charles Swain.
Born November 17, 1948, in Maxbass, North Dakota, Mrs. Lang was the daughter of the late Malvin Gerjets and Ethel Trimborn Gerjets. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Anthony Lang.
A resident of Tifton since July 1973, Mrs. Lang was a Certified Public Accountant at Patrick Tractor Company, a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and a member of the Faith Ministry team.
Mrs. Lang is survived by her husband, Larry R. Lang of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Tonya Gray Lang of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Nicasio Castro of Powder Springs; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Gerjets of Minot, North Dakota; one sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Noble Penn of Puyallup, Washington; and three grandchildren, Lura Castro, Gabriela Castro and Kyle Gray.
